Stroke prescribed by the Doctors @ Aepios

There is a month out of the year designated to spreading awareness about stroke and stroke prevention. Stroke may be a potential complication of certain surgical procedures and medical conditions. It is one of the most prevalent conditions in this country and can be very debilitating.

Blood vessels carry oxygen to the brain and if they are unable to do so the brain cells start to die. The resultant complications will depend on which part of the brain was affected by the stroke and for how long. When stroke like symptoms appear for about a day and disappear this is called a transient ischemic attack or TIA. When the same symptoms persist for a longer period of time it is called a stroke. The complications of a stroke are vast and will depend on which part of the brain was affected by the stroke as specific parts control specific functions. Individuals who lived independent and full lives can be left handicapped, paralyzed and unable to speak.
