What is Bladder Cancer for Survivors, Fighters & Supporters? click to learn more.
Bladder cancer develops when cells in the bladder begin to grow abnormally. Rather than grow and divide in an orderly way, these cells develop mutations that cause them to grow massively and not die. These abnormal cells form a tumor. Bladder cancer most often begins in the cells called urothelial cells. Although it is most common in the bladder, this same type of cancer can occur in other parts of the urinary tract drainage system. Bladder cancer symptoms include painless blood in the urine or frequent and painful urination. Bladder cancer is highly treatable with options such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.
