What is Congestive Heart Failure? click to learn more.
Congestive heart failure is a progressive chronic disorder affecting the pumping power of heart muscles. It refers to the phase in which fluid builds up around the heart and causes inefficiency in heart pumping. It is commonly referred to as heart failure, however it does not mean the heart has stopped working. Rather, it means that the heart works less efficiently. Due to various possible reasons, blood moves through heart and body at a slower rate, and pressure on heart increases. As a result, the heart cannot pump enough oxygen and nutrients to meet the body requirements. Eventually, blood and other fluids can back up in your: lungs, abdomen, liver, lower body.
