Parkinson's disease (PD) is a long-term degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that mainly affects the motor system. It affects the nerve cells in the brain that produce dopamine. In the early stages of Parkinson's disease, face may show little or no expression. Your arms may not swing when you walk. Your speech may become soft or slurred. Parkinson's disease symptoms worsen as your condition progresses over time. Parkinson’s disease symptoms include muscle rigidity, tremors, and changes in speech and gait. Parkinson's signs and symptoms may include: tremor, slowed movement, rigid muscles, impaired posture and balance, loss of automatic movements, speech changes, and writing changes.
