Causes of weight loss include, cancer, viral infections, gastroenteritis, parasite infection, depression, bowel diseases, and overactive thyroid. The loss of weight and lack of nutrition is generally associated with a chronic illness. Unintentional weight loss is often resulted by illness and should be evaluated by a health care professional.
